Allium christophii

Adversity Allium christophii : Avoid to apply treatments on plants that are not infected by parasites; in any case avoid to give pesticides or fungicides during bloom, to avoid to injure the bees. At the end of winter we can apply a Bordeaux mixture treatment, to prevent the growth of fungal diseases.

continental : We suggest to water The Allium christophii very frequently, since it prefers fresh and humid soils; during the cold season water only if necessary, however avoiding the substrate to dry out completely.

alpine : Waterings shall be very frequent from April to September, trying to maintain the soil constantly humid, however avoiding water excesses; during the rest of the year we can water them occasionally

mediterranean : It is advisable very frequent and generous waterings, to maintain the soil constantly humid. We can decrease waterings in winter.

continental : The Allium christophii needs to be exposed to direct sunlight for many hours a day to have a luxuriant growth
We suggest to grow this plant in a sheltered place away from frost and wind, even though it can tolerate slight frosts without any problem.

alpine : The Allium christophii prefer very bright locations, where they can receive direct sunlight.
These plants do not tolerate excessive frosts; it is therefore suggested to grow them in a sheltered place away from the wind, for example close to the house; or cover the aerial part with a frost cloth in winter.

mediterranean : They bear few hours of half-darkness, but need at least few hours a day of direct sunlight.
They do not suffer from cold, and tolerate also temperatures close to -5°C; they are normally grown in the garden without any problem, or they are placed in a sheltered location away from the wind.

Feed Allium christophii : We suggest to fertilize bulbous plants from April to September, or during the whole period of foliage luxuriant growth; use specific fertilizers, to be added to normal waterings every 15-20 days.
