Adversity Bergenia : Avoid to apply treatments on plants that are not infected by parasites; in any case avoid to give pesticides or fungicides during bloom, to avoid to injure the bees. At the end of winter we can apply a Bordeaux mixture treatment, to prevent the growth of fungal diseases.

alpine : Waterings shall be very frequent from April to September, trying to maintain the soil constantly humid, however avoiding water excesses; during the rest of the year we can water them occasionally

mediterranean : It is advisable very frequent and generous waterings, to maintain the soil constantly humid. We can decrease waterings in winter.

continental : The Bergenia needs to be exposed to direct sunlight for many hours a day to have a luxuriant growth
The Bergenia tolerates also long intense frosts without any problem.

alpine : The Bergenia prefer very bright locations, where they can receive direct sunlight.
These plants do not suffer from cold. They can tolerate also very intense frosts without any problem.

mediterranean : They bear few hours of half-darkness, but need at least few hours a day of direct sunlight.
It is advisable to grow this plant in the garden, since it does not suffer from cold.

Feed Bergenia : It is advisable to fertilize perennials using a slow-release fertilizer, to be placed on the soil; it is also possible to add some universal fertilizer to normal waterings, every 15-20 days, from March to October.
