Treatments Cryptomeria japonica : It is advisable a precautionary fungicide treatment, to be applied at the end of winter, using Bordeaux mixture. As far as insects are concerned avoid to apply a treatment if such parasites are not present on the plants.

continental : It is advisable regular but not excessive waterings; increase waterings in spring and summer and decrease them when the cold period starts, suspend them in winter. Always allow the soil to dry out completely between two waterings. Avoid water stagnations.

alpine : Water the Cryptomeria japonica rather regularly from March to October, always allowing the soil to dry out well between two waterings. Avoid water excesses or stagnating water; during the cold season waterings can be decreased or suspended.

mediterranean : It is advisable to intervene only when the soil is dry, however avoiding to expose the plant to long duration drought periods. We can decrease waterings or even suspend them during cold months.

continental : The Cryptomeria japonica prefers to be grown in half-darkness.
Grow the Cryptomeria japonica outside all year long; it is a rustic plant.

alpine : It prefers semishady locations, where it can receive few hours a day of sunlight.
This is a very rustic plant, that is grown in the garden all year long without any problem.

mediterranean : We suggest to place these plants in a semishady location for a balanced growth.
These plants are very rustic and survive in the garden also in case of long intense frosts.

Fertilization Cryptomeria japonica : Adult trees do not need fertilizing, on the contrary young ones are fertilized at the end of winter, by burying at the base of the trunk a ripe organic fertilizer or a slow-release granular fertilizer.
