Fragaria × ananassa - Woodland strawberry

Treatments Fragaria × ananassa : It is advisable a precautionary Bordeaux mixture treatment, to be applied at the end of winter and an other one in autumn; for the other parasites we apply specific treatments only in case there is a plant infestation. In any case avoid treatments during bloom.

continental : It is advisable regular but not excessive waterings; increase waterings in spring and summer and decrease them when the cold period starts, suspend them in winter. Always allow the soil to dry out completely between two waterings. Avoid water stagnations.

alpine : Water the Fragaria × ananassa rather regularly from March to October, always allowing the soil to dry out well between two waterings. Avoid water excesses or stagnating water; during the cold season waterings can be decreased or suspended.

mediterranean : It is advisable to intervene only when the soil is dry, however avoiding to expose the plant to long duration drought periods. We can decrease waterings or even suspend them during cold months.

continental : This plant prefers to be exposed to direct sunlight all year long.
Grow the Fragaria × ananassa outside all year long; it is a rustic plant.

alpine : Grow the Fragaria × ananassa where it can be exposed every day to direct sunlight as long as possible.
This is a very rustic plant, that is grown in the garden all year long without any problem.

mediterranean : Grow the Fragaria × ananassa in a very bright location, with a good exposure to direct sunlight.
These plants are very rustic and survive in the garden also in case of long intense frosts.

Fertilization Fragaria × ananassa : At the end of winter bury some ripe stable manure at the base of fruit trees; later on give them slow-release fertilizings, every 3-4 months, avoiding fertilizings in winter.
