Nuphar lutea

Adversity Nuphar lutea : Avoid to apply treatments on plants that are not infected by parasites; in any case avoid to give pesticides or fungicides during bloom, to avoid to injure the bees. At the end of winter we can apply a Bordeaux mixture treatment, to prevent the growth of fungal diseases.

continental : We suggest occasional waterings, specially during the cold season, during which we can also suspend watering. On the contrary, when there are high temperatures, water only when the soil is very dry, trying to dampen it deeply.

alpine : The Nuphar lutea does not need big amounts of water; if it is grown outside the water from the rains is enough, even though it can be necessary to water occasionally during spring and summer, watering the soil deeply. In winter we can suspend watering.

mediterranean : From March to October waterings will be rather regular, but only when the soil has been completely dry for few days; during the rest of the year we can water only occasionally or avoid to give water.

continental : We suggest to place these plants in a semishady location.
The Nuphar lutea tolerates also long intense frosts without any problem.

alpine : Avoid to expose this plant every day to an excessive exposure to direct sunlight; try to place it in a semishady location, especially in summer.
These plants do not suffer from cold. They can tolerate also very intense frosts without any problem.

mediterranean : The Nuphar lutea prefers semishady locations, not exposed to direct sunlight for too long periods.
It is advisable to grow this plant in the garden, since it does not suffer from cold.

Feed Nuphar lutea : Water plants are fertilized during spring and summer, using a soluble fertilizer to be dissolved in the water of the water garden; it is advisable to use specific fertilizers for water plants.
