Osmanthus decorus

Treatments Osmanthus decorus : It is advisable a precautionary fungicide treatment, to be applied at the end of winter, using Bordeaux mixture. As far as insects are concerned avoid to apply a treatment if such parasites are not present on the plants.

continental : Water the Osmanthus decorus very regularly, trying to maintain the soil always a little humid, but not soaked or with stagnating water. Remember to increase waterings during the most luxuriant vegetative period, from March until October, and to decrease watering when the cold period starts.

alpine : We remind to water the Osmanthus decorus very often, specially in summer; the soil shall be maintained humid constantly, but not soaked. During the cold season we can decrease waterings, but avoid the soil to dry out completely for too long periods.

mediterranean : Water the Osmanthus decorus very regularly, allowing the substrate to be constantly humid; increase waterings specially in summer, and decrease them in winter. Remember that these plants suffer from drought, specially in case of long duration drought.

continental : This plant prefers to be exposed to direct sunlight all year long.
These plants tolerate also slight frosts without any problem; cover the aerial part with frost cloth in winter.

alpine : Grow the Osmanthus decorus where it can be exposed every day to direct sunlight as long as possible.
They can tolerate slight frosts without any problem; cover the aerial part with frost cloth in winter.

mediterranean : Grow the Osmanthus decorus in a very bright location, with a good exposure to direct sunlight.
Normally they tolerate also long frosts without any problem, therefore they can be grown outside; in case of particularly rigid winters cover the aerial part with frost cloth.

Fertilization Osmanthus decorus : Give a fertilizer to our shrubs at the end of winter, bury at the base of the plant a slow-release organic or granular fertilizer; we can eventually give a second fertilizing at the end of summer.
