continental : Waterings for The Paphiopedilum will be frequent in spring and summer and more occasional in autumn and almost suspended in winter. We remind that it is a rule to avoid the supply of water if the soil is still humid.

alpine : Waterings will be regular and generous, specially in summer, remember to allow the substrate to dry out between two waterings. In winter waterings can be suspended.

mediterranean : Supply water regularly during vegetative period, when the soil is very dry; when temperatures decrease we can decrease waterings and suspend them in winter.

Light Paphiopedilum

continental : Grow The Paphiopedilum away from direct sunlight, in a semishady location.
It is advisable to place these plants outside during summer; all year long they are grown as houseplants.

alpine : These plants like few hours a day of sunlight, therefore place them in a location where they are exposed to a filtered sunlight or that are shaded for few hours a day.
These plants can not bear temperatures below 10-12°C, therefore grow them in the apartment during the cold months.

mediterranean : These plants need to be placed in semishady locations for most part of the day.
These plants do not tolerate cold; they are grown at a minimum temperature of 10-12°C, therefore in the house or in the hothouse.

Fertilize Paphiopedilum : We suggest a regular fertilizing, every 15-20 days, from March to October, using a specific fertilizer for orchids. Fertilizings shall be suspended during bloom and during a possible rest period.
